The Accredited Diploma in Transformative Coaching typically takes about 9-12 months to complete.
The live training element of the coaching course is spread over 6 months and, in principle, you could complete the course and qualify in that timeframe.
The variable element, however, is the time it takes participants to complete and log 40 sessions of coaching. This is very much down to each individual.Typically, you will start to coach after the first training session by working with fellow participants on the course. You may also have practice clients lined up to work with.
Assuming you were to complete 2 hours of coaching per week, it would take just 20 weeks, or around 5 months, to accumulate 40 hours of coaching and this would allow you qualify shortly after your 6th module. Of course, it is possible to coach many more than 2 hours per week should you wish.
You will also need to make time to attend four sessions with your mentor, as these are an essential part of your development as a coach, as well as being a requirement of an ICF accredited programme, and one which prepares you for individual credentialing post-qualification. These sessions should be spread out over several months to ensure you get the most value from the sessions, and time to develop your skills further in between.
Finally, there is a 12 month deadline to qualify on the course. Not only does this help participants stay focused on completing the course but it ensures that the skills and learning remain fresh. This deadline may be extended to account for extenuating circumstances but this is on a case-by-case basis.
