Embracing the Unexpected: The Magic of Emergence in Team Coaching
Great team coaching doesn’t come from following a script—it comes from embracing the unexpected.
Teams are complex, living systems, constantly shifting in response to their environment. When we let go of rigid structures and work with what’s alive in the moment, something truly transformational can emerge.
Emergent team coaching is about tuning into what is alive in the moment—surfacing unspoken tensions, sensing shifts in group energy, and working dynamically with what unfolds.
Instead of imposing structure, we cultivate a deeper presence, allowing teams to uncover their own wisdom and path forward.
Emergent team coaching invites us to step into the unknown with curiosity, sensing what is happening beneath the surface and responding in real time.
It’s about ditching the script and developing the confidence to navigate complexity, uncertainty, and group dynamics as they unfold.
This presentation will explore the magic of emergence and how you can develop the skills to work more fluidly and powerfully with teams.
In this session, we will explore:
- Why emergence matters in team coaching – shifting from control to co-creation.
- Spotting and working with what’s alive – recognising the subtle dynamics shaping team interactions.
- Ditching the script – learning to trust the moment and let go of rigid frameworks.
- Practical ways to coach emergently – tools and mindsets to deepen your presence and impact.
Join us for a dynamic and experiential conversation that will challenge the way you think about team coaching and open up new possibilities for working with what is, rather than what should be.
About the Speakers
Georgina Woudstra, MCC, ACTC: Founder & CEO, Team Coaching Supervisor
Georgina Woudstra has been at the forefront of the team coaching movement since the 2010s. As an executive coach in the 1990s, she realised that teams—not just leaders—hold the key to lasting organisational change. Yet most teams fail to collaborate effectively, leading to a huge loss of talent and value.
Through deep reflective practice, she saw that classic team facilitation and workshops rarely create real transformation. True change happens when coaches work emergently, tapping into a team’s potential in real time, even in uncertainty.
Honing this approach as an in-house team coach since 2012, she founded Team Coaching Studio in 2017 to train coaches in mastering emergent team coaching. A key voice in shaping the profession, she was among the first in the world to receive the ICF’s Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (ACTC) in 2022.
Georgina’s acclaimed book, Mastering the Art of Team Coaching, along with the Team Coaching Studio programmes, Summits & Retreats, equips coaches with the skills and confidence to shape the fastest-growing discipline in coaching today.
