In the first episode of the new Coaching Uncaged podcast Animas Centre Director Robert Stephenson is joined on a roundtable discussion by Executive and Systemic Coach Salma Shah, Executive Coach Saima Butt and Master Youth Coach Bob Singha to explore the lack of cultural diversity in the coaching industry and the things that we might all do to change this.
The panel of coaches share their personal experiences and journeys around diversity in the world of coaching, drawing on their own backgrounds, insights and observations including some fascinating exploration around the influence of elders in particular cultures and how the fear and pressure to conform to embedded cultures can prevent individuals from curiously, creatively and dynamically growing into the coaching space.
They also explore how to become the voice to encourage others, and how we can stand in the space so that others can see what is possible within the coaching industry, and what framework we could create that might allow more diversity to enter the coaching organisations.
Using the current pause to recalibrate and consider what we can do to make a real difference, this exploratory discussion asks us all what things we might do to address the lack of diversity within coaching, create change and in turn a greater richness in our tribes, communities and the coaching industry as a whole.
