It’s time to work out who your ‘no-go’ clients are!

Sometimes we don’t know who we do want to work with, but we have a real gut feeling for who we don’t want to work with.

For instance, if you’re really into the idea of working with someone who is completely ready to take huge action and be big in the world, then you aren’t going to want to work with people who are feeling stuck. You’ll be thinking ‘eugh, that just isn’t my kind of person!’

But equally, you might be into that sort of complexity and diving into the deeper work. If that’s you, then someone who just wants to go for it might not excite you as there won’t be enough depth to the work you do.

Being able to name that to both yourself and to your prospective clients is important…

Saying “here is who I work with and here is who I don’t work with” can be very powerful.

You might say “If you’re stuck and don’t know how to move forward, I am not the coach for you” which gives someone who really is interested in moving forward the sense that you are the right coach for them.

On the other hand, you might say “I am the person to come to if you’re feeling really stuck, but if you feel like everything is simple and you just want to achieve your goals then I’m not the coach for you.”

This gives another sense of who you are, and how you stand out from the crowd and how you are different from all the other coaches out there.

It takes a certain kind of bravery to be so bold and honest. Whether you publicise it on your website or just get very clear in your own mind who you do and don’t work with, you will feel much more confident in your idea of your ideal client when you can say with gusto “I don’t work…! And I don’t do…!”

If you can say what you don’t do with integrity and strength, you will be better able to communicate that in all your communications and your way of being with people.

So now is the time to answer the question: who don’t I want to work with?
