Jo is a coach and leadership development specialist focusing on enabling leaders, teams and individuals to be the best that they can be.
With over 20 years’ experience in L&D and OD roles, Jo has led and supported on business-critical projects to deliver key organisational goals, performance improvement, cultural change and organisational change in sectors as diverse as utilities, not-for profit, care sector, and higher education. Jo has delivered a number of award-winning programmes, including the Leadership Foundation ‘Developing Excellent Practice Award’ (2016), ‘Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award’ 2017 (University of Salford) for coaching culture programme and strategy for NHS staff supporting student nurses on placements across Greater Manchester, and Investors in People ‘Excellence in the Third Sector (500+) Award’ 2018 for training and engagement.
With a clear focus on lifelong learning and helping others to achieve their potential, Jo has worked with professionals at all stages of their careers, from graduates to executive leaders. Over the past 10 years, she has followed her strong interest and belief in coaching as the most impactful form of development – becoming a qualified coach and coach supervisor, and she has been training coaches since 2015.
Jo is passionate about coaching and its role in helping individuals to ‘keep moving’ (vs. being ‘stuck’!), and hugely values being able to make a positive difference to individuals and teams. She is an outcome-oriented coach with a focus on facilitating personal insight with the aim of making mind-set and behavioural change. Jo loves supporting people through raising their awareness around key challenges and illuminating their options and choices; having choices increases our sense of control, power and wellbeing and thereby enables us to be at our best both personally and professionally. This philosophy was behind the name of her business when she went freelance: ‘The Aware Leader’.
Jo has an M.Ed. and a PG Dip in Human Resource Management, and brings a wide range of experience, qualifications and training to support her coaching practice, including Insights Discovery and Clarity4D profiling, 360 feedback, Emotional Intelligence Profiling and leadership climate profiling, and is an NLP practitioner. Jo is an accredited Coach Supervisor, Mediator (ACAS), and Action Learning facilitator.
